Governance

We are governed by a Board of Directors made up of a member resident in each of the provinces and territories, and a representative of the Federal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada. Members elect a director to represent their particular province or court. The Board meets at least three times a year.

The Executive Committee consists of the President, Past President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary, all selected annually by the members of the Board of Directors. By tradition, at least one member of the executive committee is a judge of the Superior Court or the Court of Appeal of Quebec.

A Council of between 20 and 60 Association members, each elected to a two-year term, meets at least once a year and assists the Board in governing the Association. Council members are elected by the members in their provincial or territorial jurisdiction in accordance with the procedures adopted by each individual province, territory, and the courts.

Finally, much of the work we do is carried out by members from across the country who sit on our various Committees. We thank you your continued support.
